Accepting Story Submittals

Hello everyone! We are now accepting submittals of stories with pictures. We would like to give this opportunity to anyone that wants to share their stories attached with photos. Our request is to keep the content related with vintage air-cooled VW, also it will be nice if it included some Deaf background (people, places, etc). Stories can be based on your own experience or through second hand experience. It can be a summary of VW shows that you attended or profile of yourself... unleash your imagination!

If you want to share with us, please send your stories with pictures to deafvolks@gmail.com, we will  be more than happy to upload and share. The only thing we will do: crop/edit the appropriate contents (nude pictures will not be posted up, unfortunately) and we will also proofread for English grammar. Thats pretty much it, all you have to do is share! Once you submit a story/photos, we will reply back with a follow up email to make sure the content is approved by the submitter after edits are done as we want to make sure it is YOUR voice as much as possible!! For international folks, we welcome your stories in understanding that it will be much easier to do this in English- I dread using a translator program, they are somewhat hit and miss.

We hope this will allow more diversity in our postings and expose more perspectives... ready set... submit your stories!!!

Wild Wild Wagens, the Movie

Here is a cool vintage short film featuring the ever popular and diverse Volkswagens that caught fever in the 70's. We really enjoyed this film, and definitely took us back to the old glory days...

If you have any cool vintage videos of Volkswagens, please be sure to share with us!

Founding Deaf Volks

The existence of Deaf Volks can be easily rooted back to the late '60's in Southern California when the Baja craze hit it's peak... more about that for other time before I get carried away... The foundations for our current club were laid in late '90's when Jason "the Little Bear" Rosenberg opted to band together a loosely knit group of Deaf Volkers that were lurking around on a new website that soon will change the face of VW world... www.thesamba.com/vw.

As years progressed we were fortunate to have his steadfast loyalty and hardcore enthusiasm for the VW hobby which many can affirm. The club, like everything else, had it's ups and downs but as we reflect back on all those years- we are extremely thankful to be still standing strong and growing! We currently have International Deaf Volks members all over the shrinking globe as the Internet gains it's reach across. We are on Facebook and Twitter now. It all started when we met up at VW events, campouts, hosted BBQ's with Bear's legendary cooking techniques and style. This tradition has continued to this day.

Unfortunately Little Bear isn't around with us in flesh as he passed on in 2007 but we know for sure he is among us in spirit. We are thankful for his persistence and starting a club that caters to our Deaf community promoting fellowship and exchange of information, useful knowledge and passion for the Vintage Volkswagen hobby among Deaf folks.

If you knew Little Bear, please feel free post comments, photos or anything. We have many memorable moments and continue to create them to this day...

Also stay tuned for an exciting announcement regarding the upcoming 100th DeafNation expo in Pleasanton, CA on October 8th! For more information about DeafNation, please check out www.deafnation.com.

Hello World!

We have revamped this site, and through constructive feedbacks in the past- we decided that we will no longer use forums on our site. Instead, we will use the ever-popular blogging style format and link up to two of our popular social media sites: Deaf Volks on Facebook and Twitter. If you haven't visited us there, please do!

This is a beginning of a new chapter for our club, to become more connected and enable us to stream realtime information to our followers. Please follow and come back often!

We look forward to sharing more of our passion of the Vintage Volkswagen hobby, we also look forward to learning more from you!

-The Deaf Volks Team
